Book this trip!
One of the most popular long rides in Nepal.
We commence from the sunny lake side town
of Pokhara, the main entry point for trekking
into the Annapurna Region. We enjoy breathtaking
scenery as we ride along rivers, besides lakes
and through the Himalayan foothills to Kathmandu
where this epic journey will finish. Along
the route we will pass through varied terrain,
on and off road, challenging up hills and
rolling, winding down hills, beautiful Tamang
Villages, temples and lush jungles. Of course
you will experience the culture of the region
and be afforded tantalizing views of the snow
capped Himalayan peaks. This is certainly
a memorable and rewarding ride, hence its
popularity.

drive to Pokhara. The bus takes us over the
valley rim and down along the Trisuli River.
Your bikes will be secularly fitted to the
roof of the bus. Stopping along the way for
refreshments you can feel the change in atmosphere
as we head down to the lower lands. Arriving
in Pokhara, transfer to the Hotel and have

delightful lake side town, jam packed with
restaurants, bakeries, Tibetan and Nepali

the tranquil lake side.

Day 04: Pokhara- Lakeside to Sarankot and
return to Lakeside (45 kilometers)
We take a warm up ride today around Pokhara.
Leaving the hotel we make a climb following
the paved road up to Sarankot. In places it
can be steep but the views from the top are
well worth the effort. After passing through
a small village we join a little used jeep
track that undulates along the valley rim
with impressive lake views below. Pass through
small villages and a nice local swimming hole,
in the morning we may come across lots of
kids heading to school, notice how excited
they get to see you biking and don’t
be surprised if they run along after you.
After about 8km we join another paved road,
from here it’s all easy down hill biking
back to Lake Side.
Accommodation: Hotel
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast
, lunch and dinner
Day 05: Lakeside to Kalikastan via
Begnas Lake (42km) 20min carrying.
Leaving lake side on the main highway we cycle
about 18km to Begnas Lake, a rarely visited
but equally beautiful lake outside of Pokhara.
We pass through the main part of the city
on route so be wary of local traffic and tourist
buses. Soon we leave the main road and ride
past the lake and through the Bazaar, the
road climbs upwards to a ridge with awesome
views of both Begnas and the smaller Rupa
Tal (Lakes). We leave the road and head on
a single track to our guest house for the
night.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 06: Begnas via Rambazaar to Damauli
(53km)
Leaving behind Begnas we head along a narrow
single track back to the main village road.
We skirt around Rupa Tal. The ride today is
mostly flat and through villages and bands
of sub tropical forest. We cross the Seti
River on local wooden bridge and spend the
night in a village just before Damuali, the
bustling main road centre.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 07: Damauli to Turture (58km)
Proceeding through the undulating foothills,
terraced rice fields and along small streams
and tributaries we ride several ups and downs
on a rugged sparsely used jeep track. Turture
(no not torture) is a little known town set
in a beautiful valley.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 08: Turture to Gorkha (37km)
Gorkha is one of the oldest cities in Nepal
and is capital of the Gorkha region where
the famous Ghurka Soldiers originate from.
We have quite a hard climb up a rough trail
to reach this delightful place, but the possible
views on a clear day of the Annapurna Range
and Manalsu are a definite reward.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 09: Gorkha to Arughat (42km)
A beautiful day of riding through the diverse
vegetation of the foot hills of Annapurna
and Manalsu. We meander along the Buri Gandaki
River and pass Tamang and Gurung villages.
The jeep track broadens out and becomes a
more “bottom” friendly road as
we approach the river side village of Arughat,
the large district centre and bazaar is also
the launching place for trekking to Manaslu.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 10: Arughat to Dhading Besi (40km)
Dhading is an undulating district or farming
land. Our ride today takes us through the
rice and wheat growing country on a rough
jeep track. We climb steadily to a ridge with
panoramic views of the district before heading
down hill to Dhading and our rest stop for
the night.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 11: Dhading to Gulchi by bus then
to Trishuli (31km) by bike.
Today we leave Dhading Besi and cycle along
the river side road to the main Pokhara Kathmandu
Highway where we hail a local bus and hitch
a ride to Gulchi (our bikes may need to go
up on the roof again, so be prepared), it
takes about an hour and a half. From Gulchi
we follow the Trishuli River gently upwards
on a dirt road. The valley is quite spectacular,
the foot hills tower around us before we emerge
out into a broader valley and cycle to Trishuli
Bazaar, a bustling trading hub and stick point
for Langtang region. It’s quite a pleasant
ride with no major climbs.
Accommodation: Guest House
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast,
lunch and dinner
Day 12: Trishuli to Kathmandu (63
km).
To reach Kathmandu, we follow the main road
and climb for about 32km on the easy switch
backing road. Amongst the climb we can stop
to enjoy the views of the river valley and
the Himalaya. After the long climb we reach
junction and have two options to re enter
the Kathmandu Valley, the first and easiest
is to follow the main paved road downwards
for another 30km all the way back into Kathmandu,
or the second is to turn right and climb a
further 4km to Kakani, a small hill station.
From here we enter the Shivapuri National
Park and follow the famous Scar road, a challenging
single track through 8km of jungle before
it joins a rugged jeep track and drops steeply
back into the Valley. Traverse the country
side and rice paddies to reach the ring road
and proceed through the traffic for 15 min
back to your hotel. If you have your own bike,
we will take it to the bike workshop for cleaning
and packing ready to take home while you enjoy
a hot shower and some time exploring the city.
In the evening get together with your guide
and fellow travelers for an evening meal and
farewell to your group.
Accommodation: Hotel
Meal Inclusions: Breakfast
Day 13: Wrap it up
Well we have loved having you along on this
amazing journey, but now it’s time for
us to say good bye, and take you to meet your
onward flight or perhaps welcome you again
on one of our fantastic add on packages. We
hope to see you again on another fabulous
D’Tours adventure.
