Itinerary
Departing from your hotel at 7am in our private
Mini Bus, we head out through the quieter
morning streets along the main road to Bhaktapur,
from here we commence our climb up to the
2210 meter heights of Nagarkot. Head into
the luxury Club Himalaya for a sumptuous buffet
breakfast. Soak up the panoramic views from
the dining room while we unload the bikes.
If the weather is clear the views of the Himalaya
stretch from Langtang in the west to Kangchenjunga
in the east. Everest is also visible, but
very far in the distance, ask our guides to
point it out for you. After your hearty breakfast,
we discuss the most suitable way fro you to
ride down.
Ultimate off Road
If you are feeling a bit active and adventurous
we head to the tower and go off road following
a winding jeep track through the pine forest
and out into small villages all the way down
to the Nala Road. Once on this road make a
short climb of about 100 meters then again
proceed down hill along the country lane for
about 7km until you reach Bhaktapur. Enter
through a tourist gate (US$10 fee not included).
Spend some time peddling through the back
streets until you reach the Nyatapola Temple,
the tallest Temple in the Valley, here we
head to a cozy restaurant where we can get
excellent roof top views of Bhaktapur. Take
some lunch then ride up the narrow shop filled
alleyway, trying not to knock over the Pashmina
touts, to Durba Square, have a look around
here and then exit the city via the impressive
Lions Gate. Head down a steep concrete shoot
and meet our vehicle in the Tourist Bus Park.
After all the exhausting riding we relax in
the mini bus for the one hour ride back to
Kathmandu.
Need for Speed
Alternately if you prefer a speedy on road
descent, you can follow the main smooth road
to Bhaktapur and make a detour over the ridge
to Changu Nayaran, the oldest temple in the
valley. Take lunch here, admiring the all
round views from the ridge top setting, before
cruising back down through the rice paddies
to Bhaktapur.
